Synopsis

Enter Through The Balcony is a Documentary Short about Ukrainian make-shift balconies. The film explores the phenomenon of the balcony as a small architectural form. Enter Through The Balcony is a journey through the decades. It is a look inside balconies and their owners in cities across Ukraine. It is a balanced and in depth view of the balconies from their owners, employees of city councils, historians, sociologists, urbanists, developers and architects. Through the history of the balconies film explores the history of Post-Soviet Ukraine — life, culture, and the relationships between personal and public space in cities. 

An engaging love letter to Ukraine and its people, Enter Through the Balcony examines how architecture can be a curious pathway to a deeper understanding of culture and place.

Фільм хороший, але тема справді не до кінця розкрита. Могли ще трохи розказати про справжні "цар балкони", про нівечення історичної архітектури балконами, про правові аспекти всьго цього, і ще багато іншого.

Балкони у містах пострадянських країн – це не просто архітектурний феномен, це радше соціально-економічна, історична і культурна “спадщина”. В Україні це явище зафіксоване у книзі-альбомі “Balcony chic”, а також серед користувачів фейсбук на сторінці “Цар балкон”. А короткометражний документальний фільм Вхід через балкон прекрасно показує весь цей балконний процес починаючи від старих історичних будівель і хрущовок та закінчуючи панельними багатоповерхівками й новітніми “елітними” житловими комплексами. Розповідають про карколомні перевтілення балконів архітектори, антропологи та просто місцеві жителі Києва, Одеси, Харкова, Львова та Дніпра. Вийшло дуже душевно й пізнавально!

I've always been curious about these little rooms stuck onto the old soviet-style buildings. I can only tour that part of the world on Google Street View, so this was great fun to watch. I used to think they were kind of hideous. Now, I think "go for it, people, get what you need!" 😊 I am also constantly thinking "Slava Ukraini!" from the USA. It's a terrible time, but I know you will prevail! 🌻💙 🌻

Фильм хорош, было интересно. Маловато правда, минут бы 50-60 хотелось, а то только начали смотреть, а уже конец. Еще бы простых людей поснимать больше, первый мужичек с Одессы очень душевный был.
